The shopping available in the Gold Coast area is first-class, as the neighborhood houses the Magnificent Mile-a significant stretch of designer chains and department stores. Michigan Avenue is home to Water Tower Place, which is arguably the best-known mall in Chicago, and the 900 Shops. There may be no neighborhood better than the Gold Coast to visit for an evening out. Restaurants such as Tavern on Rush and Hugo's Frog Bar provide some of the highest-quality dining available. Meanwhile, the underground jazz clubs, such as the Back Room, and the velvet-rope night clubs, such as the hidden Le Passage, set the stage for an unforgettable night; but a more relaxing evening, spent perhaps at Belle Lounge with a bottle of wine, is always an option as well.

Family fun is always easy to locate, too, with Oak Street Beach nearby. The Gold Coast also houses a number of prestigious private schools. Between the 19^thcentury mansions and the wonderful school system, the Gold Coast is a desirable, family-friendly neighborhood.

The Gold Coast draws its appeal mainly from its beautiful architecture and distinct history, but one cannot ignore the neighborhood's convenience. Lake Shore Drive(US-41) runs along Lake Michigan, which makes up the neighborhood's eastern border, and provides quick access to each leg of the city. For CTA users, the State Street Red Line stop is only a few blocks shy of the Magnificent Mile; and the Clark and Division stop is close to the residential section of the Gold Coast, in addition to Rush and State streets' collection of dining options and shops

The Gold Coast has a reputation as "the" Chicago neighborhood; and-as any visitor or resident can attest-it's earned it.
