Logan Square Homes and Condos For Sale
Logan Square is a community locality situated on the western part of Chicago. Proper Logan Square actually means the intersection of Kedzie Boulevard, Logan Boulevard and the Milwaukee Avenue-which is a three way intersection. The term Logan Square most often isused loosely to denote the residential areas inside the Logan Square community. The Logan Square community area is fringed by North Avenue in the South, Belmont Avenue in the North, the Northern branch of the Chicago River in the East and Pulaski Road to the West.
The Logan Square community area and the adjoining neighbourhood are named after General John. A. Logan who served with distinction during the Civil war and also was a member of the Congress. One of the most prominent features is the three-way intersection made by the Kedzie Boulevard, Logan Boulevard and the Milwaukee Avenue; and at the centre of the circle denoting the intersection is the Illinois Centennial Monument that was built in 1918 in commemoration of 100 years of Statehood of the state of Illinois. Henry Beacon designed the monument and it was sculpted by Evelyn Longman. The monument, funded by Benjamin Ferguson stands at 70 feet in height and has an eagle at the top in reference to the state flag.
During the initial period of inhabitation, a large number of Norwegian-American population set up base here, and a majority of the population comprised of the working class owing to the relatively cheaper rates of real estates. There are many sprawling mansions and houses along the Kedzie and Logan boulevards, which once upon a time boasted of the famous Chicago Norske Klub.
Bucktown is a neighborhood located on the eastern part of Logan Square and is named after the large number of goats (Bucks) that used to be raised therein the 19th century. The original Polish name of the place used to be Kozie Prery. Palmer Square is a pocket neighborhood situated within Logan Square. The name originates from the Palmer Square open green space measuring 7 acres in the western part of the neighborhood.
The average per square foot price in the Logan Square is approximately $119 and the number of sales have increased year on year by approximately 27%. Logan Square homes for sale are in high demand owing to the availability of all modern facilities such as schools, shops, churches and airport.
